Manila Kendo Club Gasshuku 2018 Primer

Are you ready for the Manila Kendo Club Philippines Gasshuku this weekend??? Here’s a primer for everything you need to know!

When: April 21-22, 2018 8:00am-5:00pm
Where: The Upper Deck Sports Center, 6/F Ortigas Techpoint Building, Ortigas Home Depot, 1 DoΓ±a Julia Vargas Ave, Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines

Directions to the Gasshuku venue inside the Upper Deck: Upon arrival at the Ortigas Home Depot compound, go to the Upper Deck Sports Center WEST entrance (beside Starbucks) and take the elevator to the 6th floor. Upon alighting from the elevator, go straight past the Receptionists to the end of the hallway. The Spin Cycling Studio will be to your left, as we ll as a staircase that leads up to the studio. Leave your bogu bags in the Spin Cycling Studio (but take your valuables with you) and go up the stairs for registration and practice.

What to Bring:
  • Regular practice equipment (shinai, bogu set for Advanced members, etc.)
  • Bokken for Kata practice
  • Water jug (water dispensers available at the location, cafeteria also available at the location serving food and drinks)
  • Change of clothes
  • Padlock if you want to use the lockers (free) for your valuables
  • Payment for Gasshuku (if you haven’t paid yet)
Reminders:
  • Please come on time! Be in uniform by start of practice at 8:30am.
  • Drop off your bags and footwear in the bogu bag area (Spinning Cycle Studio) before going up the Registration Area to avoid congestion – but keep all your valuables with you!

April 21, Saturday

  • 8:00am-8:30am: Registration
  • Morning Session:
    • Welcome Remarks
    • Warm-ups
    • Suburi – all levels
    • Beginner Class: Fumikomi and Kirikaeshi
    • Advanced Class: Kihon Kata
  • Lunch Break (1.5 hours)
  • Afternoon Session:
    • Advanced Class: Kendo Kata, Oji Waza and Hiki Waza, Godo Keiko
  • Team Dinner at 7pm

April 22, Sunday

  • 8:00am-9:00am: Assembly
  • Morning Session:
    • Suburi – all levels
    • 1st Team Shiai
  • Lunch Break (1.5 hours)
  • Afternoon Session:
    • 2nd and 3rd Team Shiai
    • Sensei Shiai Analysis
    • Closing Remarks
    • Godo Keiko
    • Event pack-up and exit

      Hi Ralph! It’s P1500 for advanced members and P750 for beginners as they are half day only on both dates. Are you affiliated with any club or have prior experience in kendo? πŸ™‚
